Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions, answered. Your next adventure starts here.

Whether you're joining us for your first group ride, planning a cycling escape abroad or hiring a bike box, we've got the answers to help you get rolling.

What is LRN Cycling?

LRN Cycling is a cycling community built around a love of riding, exploring new places and bringing people together.

We organise social rides, coordinate cycling escapes, help arrange accommodation and plan suggested routes so you can spend more time enjoying the ride.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist to join a cycling trip?

Not necessarily! We want cycling adventures to feel accessible to a wide range of riders.

Every trip will have information about suggested distances, elevation and expected riding abilities, helping you decide whether it's right for you.

You should be confident riding independently and comfortable with the advertised terrain.

What's included in an LRN Cycling holiday?

Our cycling escapes focus on making the planning process simpler.

Depending on the trip, arrangements may include:

  • Accommodation bookings

  • Suggested cycling routes and GPX files

  • Local cycling recommendations

  • Café and coffee stop suggestions

  • Opportunities to meet and ride with other cyclists

Each trip will clearly explain what's included before you book.

Are flights and airport transfers included?

No, unless specifically stated otherwise.

You'll normally arrange your own flights, airport transfers and travel to the destination, giving you flexibility over how and when you travel.

Will someone guide us on every ride?

LRN Cycling primarily coordinates cycling experiences and provides suggested routes rather than professionally guided or individually supervised rides.

You'll have access to route information to help you explore, but you'll be responsible for your own riding decisions and safety.

Can I join a trip if I'm travelling alone?

Absolutely!

One of the best things about cycling is the people you meet along the way.

Whether you're joining solo or with friends, our escapes are designed to bring like-minded cyclists together.

How do I book a cycling holiday?
When a trip becomes available, we'll share the destination, dates, accommodation details, price and booking information.

Once you've reviewed the details, you can follow the instructions to secure your place.

What happens if I need to cancel my holiday?

Cancellation terms will be provided before booking and may depend on the accommodation arrangements and applicable consumer rights.

We recommend arranging suitable travel insurance when booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance that covers road cycling, overseas medical care, bicycle transport and cancellation.

Any mandatory requirements will be confirmed in the individual trip details.

🚴 Social Rides & Community

Are LRN Cycling group rides free?

Our regular social rides are intended to bring cyclists together and are generally free to join.

If a particular event has a charge, this will be clearly advertised in advance.

Do I need to be a fast cyclist?

Not at all!

Each ride will advertise its intended pace, distance and elevation so you can choose something suitable for you.

We aim to create an encouraging environment where riders can enjoy cycling and meet new people.

What does 23–25 km/h mean?

This refers to the intended average speed across the ride, not the maximum speed.

Actual speeds can vary depending on terrain, weather, traffic and the group.

Where do your rides start?

Our rides take place in different locations, including Dorset, London, Windsor and surrounding areas.

Meeting points, parking information and transport details will be shared before each ride.

Do your rides include café stops?

Of course! ☕

Good coffee and cycling go hand in hand.

Where practical, our routes include carefully selected cafés where riders can refuel, relax and enjoy the social side of cycling.

What should I bring on a group ride?

We recommend bringing:

  • A roadworthy bicycle and helmet

  • Water and nutrition

  • A spare inner tube or puncture repair kit

  • A pump or CO₂ inflator

  • A fully charged phone

  • Suitable clothing for the weather

  • A payment method for café stops

What happens if I can't keep up with the group?

Please check the advertised pace and distance before joining.

Our social rides are not individually supervised, and we cannot guarantee that all riders will remain together.

We recommend having the route saved to your cycling computer or phone so you can navigate independently if needed.

How do I find out about upcoming rides?

Follow LRN Cycling on social media and join our community groups to see upcoming rides, new routes, events and announcements.
